FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Indiana University (IU) Fort Wayne is set to host Indiana’s first mobile lung screening program soon.

On September 24, a 40-foot mobile unit, equipped with a CT scanner, will make its way to campus.

It is operated by Indiana University Health in partnership with Healthy IU and End Lung Cancer Now, an initiative of the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.

University officials say the visit offers community members access to life-saving lung screenings and education.

The program seeks to make the screenings more convenient and accessible for Hoosiers across the state to reduce barriers to early detection of lung cancer.
