LOS ANGELES — A decomposed body discovered in a Tesla registered to rapper D4vd has been identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing last year. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) found the remains in the trunk of the vehicle on September 8 after receiving complaints about a foul odor from workers and neighbors at a Hollywood tow yard.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the body, which was found wrapped in a plastic sheet. Reports indicate that the remains were severely decomposed and had been inside the vehicle for an extended period. The medical examiner's office had initially described the deceased as a woman of unknown age with wavy black hair.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez was last seen on April 5, 2024, when she left her home in Lake Elsinore, located southeast of Los Angeles. A missing person flyer issued by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office had been circulated in search of her. The cause and time of her death have not yet been determined, and the LAPD is treating the case as a homicide.
The Tesla, which had been parked in the Hollywood Hills for nearly a month, was impounded after being abandoned. Neighbors reported that the vehicle had been left unattended for weeks, with one resident describing the smell as similar to sewage. The car is registered in Texas to David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd.
A representative for the 20-year-old artist stated that he is fully cooperating with the investigation. D4vd was on tour at the time of the discovery and is scheduled to perform at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles this weekend.
As the investigation continues, it has been noted that D4vd has a tattoo on his right index finger that matches one found on Hernandez. Following the discovery, brands such as Crocs and Hollister have removed promotional content featuring D4vd from their marketing campaigns.
The LAPD has not released any suspect information as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hernandez's death.
