Detroit City Councilman Coleman A. Young II, who is running for re-election, has returned a $1,000 political donation from Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, a former state representative and current candidate to run the city's Office of the Ombudsman.
The city's Ombudsman position needs approval from two-thirds of the nine-member City Council, of which Young is currently a member at large. Gay-Dagnogo is one of 10 candidate s being interviewed by the council for the 10-year-position, which has an annual salary of $195,000, according to city documents . The term of current Ombudsman Bruce Simpson ends in October.
