MIAMI, Fla. — Dan Marino, the Hall of Fame quarterback whose 420 career touchdown passes rank seventh on the NFL’s all-time list, recently revealed his battle with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).
The disease — “a liver condition characterized by the accumulation of fat in the liver, along with inflammation and fibrosis”— can lead to serious complications, including cancer. Fortunately for the Dolphins legend, Marino has been able to manage it, revealing that he was first diagnosed in 2007.
