SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon for allegedly violating a protective order on Darling Street, which delayed school dismissal nearby.

The Southington police developed information that 39-year-old Angel Luis Rivera Jr. was in the area in violation of a protective order around 1:30 p.m.

According to police, he had two active arrest warrants: one for failing to appear in court, and another for violating the terms of his release in connection with a separate family violence arrest earlier in September.

Southington police said that Rivera removed his court-ordered ankle monitor device following his release after his initial arrest and was believed to be armed.
