LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ) - VMI and the City of Lexington celebrated American history on Wednesday as part of the countdown to our nation’s 250th birthday in July.

While the highlight of VMI’s celebration had to be canceled, the university and the surrounding city still celebrated Constitution Day and honored our nation’s military.

Hundreds of people came out to stand outside of the VMI barracks on Wednesday as the school was set to receive a flyover from the U-S Navy’s famed Blue Angels flight squadron. The flyover planned for Constitution Day was to recognize Commander John Keilty III, a VMI alum, one of the pilots in his last year with the Blue Angels.
