SHREVEPORT, La. — The 12th annual “Kicking Off” Child Cancer Awareness Month Kickball Jamboree is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Princess Park Community Center at 931 Baker Street in Shreveport.

The event honors the life of Jamarion Daugherty, a participant in SPAR’s Therapeutic Program who battled Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. That's a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer.

Organizers say the jamboree is a chance for the community to come together, play, and raise awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
