ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - We are beginning fall harvest season here in Kentucky and well that means the fields are getting busier. With the warm and dry weather we have seen over the last several weeks, this is increasing the risk for fire especially if machinery malfunctions.

Chad Womack, assistant chief of the Anderson County Fire District said fires this time of year can start very easily.

“The lack of rainfall over the summer, it doesn’t take much to start a fire these days. A spark from a piece of machinery can start a grass or woods fire that can get out of control very rapidly,” said Womack.

With fall harvest here, machinery is being put to work. Whenever the machinery has a problem, it can spark fires like we’ve already seen in parts of our area.
