The Redlands City Council is considering boosting revenue for public services by adjusting an existing tax on residential and commercial properties.
Councilmember Eddie Tejeda presented three tax proposals from the dais Tuesday, Sept. 16. The inspiration for the discussion was to make sure that “public safety is funded into the foreseeable future,” Tejeda said.
Council members ultimately requested that city staff prepare an internal report on modifying the city’s paramedic tax paid by property owners. The tax amount differs depending on the type and size of a property.
The proposals considered Tuesday are categorized as either “general” or “special” taxes.
