GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man will be sentenced in November in connection with a downtown bar fight this past summer.
Gabriel Contreras, 44, will be sentenced for felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor assault charges. He was arrested on June 17 after a fight two days earlier outside McKinney’s Irish Pub.
Court documents have witness accounts which indicate Contreras walked up and punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the sidewalk. This reportedly caused a brain bleed.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Contreras had formerly been charged with felony assault but was convicted on the threat and misdemeanor assault charges in a plea deal.
He’ll be sentenced Nov. 14.
