DES MOINES — The Toledo Mud Hens continued their strong run of recent play Wednesday with a 5-1 road victory over the Iowa Cubs.

The game was called off in the seventh inning because of inclement weather.

The Mud Hens have won three straight games and five of their last six. They entered the game still mathematically alive in the International League playoff race, but needed a loss by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Wednesday to avoid elimination.

Andrew Navigato opened the scoring for Toledo with a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Chase Strumpf answered right back for Iowa in the home half of the second with a solo homer of his own.
