Kara Kelley, the former president and CEO of the Vegas Chamber, will be the newest member of the Las Vegas City Council.
Kelley in an unanimous vote today was selected to serve out the final months of Councilwoman Victoria Seaman’s term. Seaman vacated the post in August to serve in the Trump administration as the U.S. Health and Human Services regional director in Denver.
“I am honored to be amongst this group and humbled by your vote of confidence in me, and I stand ready to help and with ears open,” Kelley told council members after today’s vote.
The council previously decided to appoint the replacement over holding a special election, which would have cost almost $500,000 and taken around 90 days to complete.
