BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Tropical Storm Gabrielle formed in the Atlantic on Wednesday morning making it the seventh named storm in the Atlantic this hurricane season. As of Wednesday afternoon, Gabrielle had max winds at 45 mph and was racing north-northwest at 22 mph.

Gabrielle is having a tough time gaining strength due to dry air ahead of the storm. This will result in slow intensification over the next few days.

By the weekend, Gabrielle will move into an environment suitable for development and could become a hurricane by late Saturday or Sunday. The question on everyone’s mind is whether or not this storm will impact the United States. At this time, Gabrielle is not expected to impact the U.S. but could pose problems for the island of Bermuda.
