One of the top linebackers in the city is headed to the Gem State.

On Tuesday afternoon, Roosevelt linebacker Geovoney Burks announced on social media that he is committing to Idaho.

Last fall, Burks was a Portland Interscholastic League all-league first team selection as both a linebacker and a tight end. He was one of the leaders of a Roosevelt team that went 4-6, and finished tied for second in the city.

At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Burks is considered the No. 9 recruit in Oregon’s class of 2026, per 247Sports , and the No. 2 senior linebacker. He also had offers from Sacramento State, Eastern Washington and Idaho State.
