Business lobby group the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has gone into administration – but its main operations will be reborn under new ownership after a deal that saved dozens of jobs.
Chamber bosses warned in July that the organisation was on the brink of administration , saying the costs of running its Chamber Space events business in Deansgate were “unsustainable”.
Now administrators have been appointed to the original Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) and have immediately sold the main chamber of commerce business to a newly-formed chamber company. That has saved 37 jobs as the chamber’s main business support functions have all moved across to the new business, and bosses have vowed a "seamless transition" of services.
