MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - It’s Indiana Rail Safety Week, and the theme of this week is “Stopping Track Tragedies”.
Indiana Operation Lifesaver is leading the charge, and the initiative is designed to remind people, when you see tracks, think train.
Mishawaka Police and Indiana Operation Lifesaver are introducing new sidewalk safety signage at crossings, that are designed to increase visibility and remind pedestrians to stay alert near train tracks.
“Obviously we’ve included this stencil here which is very important because Mishawaka is a no horn community, so we don’t try to alert the horn on the trains when they come by,” said community Relations Lt.
