STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Red Storm Fastpitch and Great Kills Little League held their 4th Annual Tournament of Heroes softball tournament at the loop’s complex last weekend, and much like the past three, the event was a huge success as 16 teams in four divisions competed in the two-day tourney.

More than $5,000 was raised for Tunnel to Towers and the hosts kept up their yearly tradition by honoring a fallen 9/11 hero as this edition’s tournament was dedicated to firefighter Brian Cannizaro, who perished that fateful day while trying to save others at the World Trade Center. Cannizaro’s son, Chris, would later become a star baseball player at GKLL.
