Lambton County is asking to hear what people think about a plan to merge libraries in Sombra and Port Lambton.

A public meeting at the Port Lambton Community Hall, where the Port Lambton library is located, is scheduled Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. to present details and hear people’s thoughts about the proposal to close Port Lambton’s library and expand Sombra’s, about six kilometres away.

County council has endorsed the idea , but St. Clair Township earlier this year held off and asked for public consultation first, said Darlene Coke, county library services manager.

Details and input from the town hall, through a third-party facilitator, will be shared with both councils before a decision is made about whether to proceed, she said.
