CORINTH, Maine (WABI) - Drought conditions are leaving many Maine farmers high and dry.
With a lack of rain, a popular u-pick pumpkin farm in Corinth has virtually no pumpkins to pick.
“This is the worst year by far. We’ve had total crop failure this year. We’ve had some other dry spells, but we’ve gotten through them, but the timing of this dry spell made it the worst year we’ve ever had,” said Tim Chesley, owner, Country Pumpkins.
Country Pumpkins in Corinth prides itself on being an affordable, family-friendly u-pick pumpkin farm.
“We’ve seen great growth. The last three years we’ve been doing wonderful,” Chesley said.
He was hoping to keep that momentum going.
“Yes, I planted more. We planted 40 acres this year, which is 10 to 12 more than typical in hopes of meeting that need. A
