A recent move by Frederick City to allocate $20,000 in taxpayer funds for legal assistance to non-citizens facing deportation has drawn sharp criticism from Maryland State Senator Justin Ready, the Senate Minority Whip.
The initiative, championed by Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor, is designed to route funds through nonprofit organizations to provide legal defense for individuals involved in immigration proceedings.
