UPDATE (12:40 p.m.): Hockey is officially returning to the Port City.

Zawyer Sports and Entertainment, the owner and operator of Mobile's new franchise, made the announcement on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The team will debut during the 2027-2028 season at the Mobile Arena, following the Southern Professional Hockey League Board of Governors' approval of the city's admittance application.

"What's going to be inside that brand new arena? As you just heard, a brand-new team...hockey! The best is yet to come," President of the Mobile City Council, CJ Small, said.
