An El Paso man died after he lost control of his motorcycle as he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic in East El Paso, authorities said.

Anthony Jerome Harris, 34, was driving a 2007 GSXR-1000 Suzuki motorcycle about 1:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in the 1400 block of Zaragoza Road, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release.

Harris was driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic in the southbound lanes, the news release states. He lost control of his motorcycle and slid into the northbound lanes, crashing head-on into a 2015 Chrysler 200.

Harris died from the injuries he suffered in the crash. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, the news release states. No further information was released
