SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — Sandy Elementary School went into 'SECURE' status on Wednesday afternoon after law enforcement took someone into custody nearby.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on September 17, Sandy Police Department was dispatched to the area of 500 east and 8800 south due to calls of a burglary in progress. When they responded to the scene, they found that it was a trespassing issue, instead.
While law enforcement was investigating the trespassing, Sandy Elementary was placed on 'Secure' status as a precaution. Under 'secure' status, all students are taken indoors, and all exterior doors are locked.
