Newfoundland and Labrador curler Brad Gushue — a two-time Olympic medallist who has won more national men's curlling championships than anyone else in the sport — has announced he will retire from competitive curling at the end of his next season.

Gushue made the announcement in a video on social media Wednesday, citing a desire to spend more time with his family, and completion of the goals he set out to achieve as an athlete.

"I feel like I'm among the lucky few who can say they've achieved them. That's given me the confidence to make this decision now. To leave on a high note with no regrets, no challenge left unanswered, and no expectation
