The driver of a stolen vehicle evaded Seattle police on Wednesday afternoon after jumping the open University Bridge in Seattle.

Police came across the stolen Audi Q5 near 10th Avenue East and Roanoke Street around 12:20 p.m. and began pursuing the vehicle, spokesperson Detective Brian Pritchard said.

Seattle Department of Transportation footage shows the car driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid stopped vehicles behind the bridge gates, when the double-leaf bascule bridge spans were nearly but not entirely lowered. The Audi then rams into the gate arms, accelerates and leaps over the drawbridge gap.

Pursing officers came to a halt and did not try to repeat the daredevil jump.
