One person was killed and two others were critically injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash that overturned a cargo truck in Long Beach.

Firefighters and paramedics responded about 11:45 a.m. to Seventh Street west of Silvera Avenue, where a sedan and cargo truck had collided, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk.

Rescue crews freed the victims from the wreckage, but one person died at the scene, Fisk said.

Two truck occupants were extricated with the Jaws of Life and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The sedan’s driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Fisk said.

Seventh Street was closed between Pepper Tree Lane and Campus Drive as Long Beach police investigated.
