FLORENCE , S.C. — For the second time in a week, there was a thrilling finish between West Florence and Wilson. After Wilson won 27-21 Friday in football, it went down to the wire Tuesday, this time in boys volleyball.

Playing a best-of-3-set format, coach Warren Coker’s Knights won 2-1 (25-20, 21-25, 18-16) on their home floor after Wilson won most of last year’s meetings.

In Tuesday’s pivotal third set, Coker called a timeout with the Tigers one point away from winning the match — leading 14-13.

“I was trying to calm their nerves,” Coker said. “I told them this was not for a state championship. We’re playing for pride right now. Just settle down and let’s make a go
