SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) - The Missouri Economic Research and Information Center compiled the data for August.

Missouri nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 5,900 jobs in August, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1 percent from July.

Private industry employment decreased by 2,900 jobs, and government employment decreased by 3,000 jobs. Over the year, there was an increase of 33,900 jobs from August 2024 to August 2025, and the unemployment rate increased by four-tenths of a percentage point, from 3.7 percent in August 2024 to 4.1 percent in August.
