SEATTLE — With the expected cool down this weekend and the official arrival of the Autumnal Equinox on Monday, it may have you thinking about fall foliage and the best time to enjoy the most popular sights of the season.

For the Puget Sound area, the peak time typically hits mid- to late-October. In the Seattle area for instance, that time can be between Oct. 10-20 for some of the most vibrant colors.

But with the microclimates of western Washington, the peak time does depend on where you live. For instance, the Cascade Mountains often see colors changing in higher elevations by late September, but the more vibrant glow often shines best in mid-October.
