AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Palo Duro senior athlete Darien Lewis helped the Dons defeat the Canyon Eagles 35-7, advancing the team to 2-1 on the season. Lewis, who is a highly recruited safety with a three-star rating according to 247Sports, displayed this Friday night.

According to PD Head Coach Eric Mims Sr., this result stemmed from "Great practice all week." Mims explained, "We knew the challenge at hand. We had lost a very physical game the previous year to Canyon, and so we came in with a game plan and high expectations of how we wanted to perform. And Friday night, we came out, and we played pretty well. Specifically in the first half."

The Dons got going early in this game, with Lewis making plays in the first half, ensuring he and the seniors won on Homecoming night.
