DUBLIN, Ga. — Two Georgia state legislators have formally requested a state audit of Dublin City Schools' financial management as the district faces mounting warnings about a potential financial crisis.

State Rep. Matt Hatchett and Sen. Larry Walker sent a letter to State Auditor Greg Griffin asking the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts to review how the district manages its finances.

"We've got to get a handle on where we are now," Hatchett said. "We've been here before, but not to this drastic level and the whole community is concerned."

The request follows two letters from State Superintendent Richard Woods to Dublin Superintendent Fred Williams, warning that the district is headed toward insolvency. Woods was at a Byron school on Wednesday but declined to comment on Dubl
