Parents and former school employees are weighing in on how Baltimore City Public Schools should select its next CEO.
Community members showed up to events on Tuesday and Wednesday at local high schools to provide feedback on the selection process. Alma Advisory Group has been hired to conduct a national search for a new CEO to replace Sonja Santelises, who’s in her 10th year on the job.
Blanca Tapahuasco, a mother of three, attended Wednesday evening’s event at Patterson High School and said she wants the school system to improve on achievement. Her seventh grade son used to attend a city school, but she switched him to a private school because she was concerned about education quality. Tapahuasco said she works a full-time job and three part-time jobs to afford his education.
