KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Experts in social media, journalism and AI are discussing how misinformation spreads online in the death of conservative activist, Charlie Kirk.
Mustafa Oz is an associate professor at UT's College of Journalism and Media, and said he teaches students that AI can be used as a tool, and it can also cause harm.
"Researchers are finding that the real danger is not just the technology itself, but how it is used and how people respond to it," Oz said. "People tend to trust machines and AI tools too much, assuming they're always correct and accurate."
