Over the next two years, Ted Stevens International Airport will conduct a sound study in the neighborhoods surrounding the airport. Looking for any place that has an average sound level above 65 decibels. The last study was completed ten years ago in 2015.
As stated on the study's website, their goal is to "-develop a balanced program to minimize and/or mitigate aircraft noise effects on surrounding communities-"
For some areas, this potential mitigation of aircraft noise could be a massive change.
In neighborhoods right next to the airport, such as this one off of Raspberry Road, the sound from aircraft is hard to ignore.
But for many residents, while the planes may shake their houses, they have grown to accept it.
