All lanes of westbound Interstate 40 at Carlisle were closed after a driver struck and killed a person Wednesday afternoon, the New Mexico State Police said.

State Police said on X it closed the roadway due to "police activity" on I-40, according to officer Wilson Silver, a State Police spokesperson.
