A Rahway resident was sentenced to 25 years in state prison after he admitted to fatally shooting a man in the city in 2022, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.
Brandan Melford, 34, pleaded guilty on June 27 to aggravated manslaughter, the office said in a statement.
The deadly shooting happened on Nov. 12, 2022, on the 1400 block of Witherspoon Street, investigators said. It was there that police found 44-year-old Roselle resident Jack Harris suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Cho.
Three days later, Melford was arrested in Newark and charged with murder and weapons-related offenses, the office said
