NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans is facing a $65 million budget deficit. That number was confirmed Wednesday by members of Mayor Cantrell's administration after there were some discussions that the budget deficit was closer to $100 million.

During a presentation to council members Wednesday, members of Cantrell's team said there were signs of this deficit back in 2024, after some big events like the didn't generate as much revenue as they had expected. Then, the and the started 2025 off with unexpected expenses.
