JAMESTOWN, La. -- Citizens from the community of Jamestown who have been leading the charge against a proposed saltwater injection well delivered 800 letters of opposition this week to the state agency that will make a decision about the project.
The letters given to the Louisiana Department of Environment & Natural Resources in Baton Rouge included opposition from the mayors of Jamestown, Saline and Castor. The Bienville Parish Police Jury had already gone on record opposed to the plan.
Brickyard Trucking LLC wants to drill an injection well at the old Acme Brick plant site on state Highway 792. There are already seven other disposal wells operating within a 25-mile radius, and an eighth one has been permitted. The parish and town officials join a growing list of local and state leader
