Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered all United States and Commonwealth flags to fly at half-staff across the state to honor three police officers who were killed in the line of duty during a shooting in North Codorus Township, York County on Wednesday.

The governor's office announced that flags at all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings and grounds will be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until the date of the officers' burial, which has not yet been announced.

The decision to lower the flags follows the United States Flag Code, which provides for flags to be lowered in tribute to fallen public servants.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate by lowering their own flags in recognition of the fallen officers.
