ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas — Anderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Houston Police officer was involved in a fatal head-on collision Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred on Hwy. 287 in Anderson County. Senior Police Officer Alex Roberts was conducting a traffic escort on a motorcycle when he was struck by another vehicle, according to Houston PD.

"Senior Police Officer Roberts faithfully served the Houston Police Department with honor and dedication. His loss is felt deeply within our department and the community he proudly served," said HPD Police Chief J. Noe Diaz, Jr.
