A house fire on Sept. 13 left a home on Aurora’s East Side uninhabitable, according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department.

On Sept. 13 at around 9:13 a.m., firefighters arrived to the 100 block of Westhampton Court in Aurora to find heavy black smoke coming from the roof of a two-story house, the news release said.

Residents had already evacuated the home, and firefighters located an attic fire and advanced hose lines to the second floor, according to the release.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 15 minutes, with assistance from multiple fire companies which responded to the fire, the release said.

The home was ultimately declared uninhabitable, according to the fire department. No residents were injured in the fire, and they made arrangements to stay with
