Three fire department open houses set for Saturday

The Elgin and West Dundee fire departments and Elgin Community College’s Center for Emergency Services are each holding open houses Saturday, Sept. 20.

Elgin’s will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 2, 650 Big Timber Road. It will feature demonstrations, safety information and hands-on activities for all ages.

Highlights will include a Kane County sheriff’s office K-9 demonstration, hazardous materials awareness information, fire extinguisher demonstrations, car seat checks provided by Advocate Aurora Health and information on the Elgin Fire and Police Explorers programs, according to the city’s website.
