LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Male High School football was supposed to start the season with two home games. Instead, the Bulldogs have played three straight games on the road. Now, it's finally time for the home opener.

Male is one of a number of Jefferson County Public Schools getting new artificial turf fields this season. There were some delays, which led to Male's unscheduled road games.

The Dogs went 2-1, with wins at Butler and Ballard and a loss to St. Xavier. Now, after a bye week, workers are putting the finishing touches on the new field to have it ready for Friday night when the top-ranked Trinity Shamrocks come calling.
