The more things change for Perth Heat, the more things stay the same.

After a rollercoaster off-season which saw the club’s future look shaky prior to the arrival of a new ownership group, the Heat have announced their first signing of the season in the form of club legend Tim Kennelly.

It comes after new owners Black Pearl Sports Group announced the appointment of Perry Roth as the team’s manager for the 2025/26 season.

Kennelly, the Heat’s all-time hits leader and Australian Baseball League home-run record holder, has signed on for a 15th season with his hometown club.

The 38-year-old finished seventh among Heat players with 13 runs batted in last season and the 2012 MVP has recorded more hits (507), RBIs (254) and games (450) than anyone in ABL history.
