A Code Orange Air Quality Action Day is now in place for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties for Thursday. It will be unsafe to be outside for extended periods for those with respiratory problems, young children, and older adults.

The dry spell lives on for most of the region for the next several days. A weak front will drop through the Pittsburgh area Friday afternoon and may spark a stray light shower. Overall, the chance is slim.

Areas of Beaver and Washington counties are now in an extreme drought, which is level three of four of drought. Areas of severe and moderate drought have also expanded across the region.
