A Northern Territory sports star and school staffer charged with having sex with a student has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.
The athlete, who cannot be identified for legal reasons but was not a member of the teaching staff, was arrested in April following an investigation by detectives from the Child Abuse Taskforce.
The man aged in his 30s is facing two counts of having sexual intercourse with a young person while in a position of authority, over allegations he had sex with a student enrolled at a Top End school where he worked at the time.
During a previous court appearance, prosecutor Hana Seraphim told the court the case against the man was "extremely strong" and described his alleged conduct as "brazen" and "calculated".
