A Yuma family is asking for community support after 17-year-old Javier “Milo” Figueroa was killed during a violent incident on the night of Sept. 13.

The incident, which also involved his older brother, Juan, took place near a Starbucks at 16th Street and 4th Avenue.

According to the family, the two brothers called their father around 8 p.m., saying they were being followed by a man. Their father immediately rushed to the location to help his sons. By the time he arrived, one of his sons had been seriously injured, and the other had been taken into custody.

Javier was transported to the hospital, where he passed away less than an hour later. Juan, who was hurt in the attack, has since been charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree murder per domestic violence. He is be
