A shocking moment caught on camera in at a Metra train station in suburban Hinsdale led police to issue a safety message to the community in an effort to remind the public that "catching a train is not worth risking your life."

The video, shared by the Hinsdale Police Department on Facebook as part of "Think Train Week," shows a person running on the train platform at the Garfield Crossing in front of train stopped on the tracks.

The person then appears to slide or crawl under the train, presumably to get to the other side of the platform.

"Our assumption was that this person was running late for the train and couldn't get on the right side of the tracks, and made the decision to go underneath it," Deputy Chief Tom Lillie said in an interview with NBC Chicago.
