MARIETTA, Ga. — A man will spend the rest of his life in prison after his conviction of felony murder and neglect of his wife, who died in a bed blackened with waste.

His wife, Adrienne Gordon, was admitted to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital on November 9, 2021, and placed on maximum-level life support, but died the following day, according to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office.

The district attorney's office stated that, before her death from blood poisoning, an employee with Adult Protective Services had gone to visit her at the hospital. The employee reported numerous injuries following the visit.

The woman "was covered in sores and lesions, her hair matted, her nails grotesquely overgrown, her bed blackened with waste."
