SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled their roadmap to 2030 plan which includes an expansion for the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Ellabell.

This announcement comes just two weeks after hundreds of South Korean nationals were detained by immigration authorizes.

According to a release by Hyundai Motor Company, phase 2 of the expansion is set to add production capacity of 200,000 units by 2028. The expansion will include a $2.7 billion investment and will create 3,000 new jobs.

Hyundai Motor also states that it aims to produce more than 80% of cars sold in the U.S. domestically by 2030.
